Nikon’s Coolpix 4800 combines a 4.0-megapixel imager with a high-quality Nikkor ED 8.3x optical zoom, and a 1.8-inch (118,000 pixel) TFT color LCD monitor. This is a simple point-n-snap camera that offers the ease of fully automatic operation, with the option for users to choose from 11 pre-programmed scene modes or use one of the 4 Scene assist modes, which offer a selection of framing assist options to help users compose pictures with framing guides displayed. Other features include 13.5MB of internal memory and a card slot for optional SD memory cards. This is a tiny LCD (0.44 in.) with 235,000 pixels of resolution. It can also be used to review images, and navigate the Menu system.
CNET have reviewed the Coolpix 4800 and users rated it 8.4 out of 10 or Excellent.
They said-
“You’ll get plenty of automatic snapping assistance from the Coolpix 4800. Four scene modes with Scene Assist composition aids (Portrait, Landscape, Sports, and Night Portrait) are easily accessible via a rear dial, and you can activate 11 more specialized scene settings (including Sunset and Fireworks) from the LCD menu. Though it’s not targeted toward enthusiasts, the Coolpix 4800 can also take 8 rapid-fire pictures at 1.5fps in the Normal compression mode.”
