It is starting to be reported that some Nikon D200 SLRs are experiencing banding through some images. The banding resembles the effect you might get shotting through a screen-window. See pic.
According to some, the problem is in the hardware, and Nikon has been repairing units returned to them with the banding problem.

I also took a deeper look at the “banding” issue reported by some D200 owners on web forums recently. I found that I could reproduce the behavior, albeit under a rather limited set of circumstances. Is this a mountain or a molehill? I’m personally inclined toward the latter, but read my report for the full details, and decide for yourself. (Full JPEGs and NEFs provided for your scrutiny.)
What exactly is banding? also I find that when I shoot with the d200 what I see is not
what I get size wise. very careful not to loose a toe or a hand in centering on dance
shots and then when I see on the computer, there is alot of room and the image looks small. Why is that?
