Overall, the Fuji Finepix S9000 is a good camera with some very nice features for the price. Unfortunately, its hefty $900 CAD price tag puts it in the same company as some entry level digital SLR cameras. The camera is very easy to work with thanks to a modified version of Fuji ’s standard menu system and is well designed overall.

However, with glaring weaknesses like the quality of optics on point-and-snaps, as well as the very high image noise, it’s hard for me to recommend this camera unless you absolutely need the 9 megapixel sensor for print purposes. For the cost, you could spend a bit more and get your hands on a Pentax *ist or a Nikon D50 with lens. You’ll get a camera capable of higher quality images with less noise, as well as the ability to upgrade and switch between any number of lenses.

The Fujifilm FinePix S9000 digital camera boasts 9.0 effective MegaPixels that capture up to 3,488 x 2,616 recorded pixels (9.12 million) - the highest resolution of any consumer-grade camera on the market. It is equipped with a Fujinon 10.7x wide-angle optical zoom lens that is the equivalent of having a 28-300mm zoom on a 35mm camera. This zoom range is ideal for a wide variety of situations and thus makes the buy of additional lenses unnecessary.
