Today I bought a new flash for my Nikon D70, the Nikon SB-800 Speedlight. Here is a test photo I took just before me and my wife ate the subject for desert! I am really impressed with this flash. I haven’t seen colour like this yet from my D70 indoors.
I haven’t read the SB-800’s manual yet: I just slapped it on and started taking shots of everything in the house. It’s pretty funny when I get a new toy, just like Christmas.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI have studio strobes that are designed to be constant color… I never realized that a flash (portable or otherwise) changes from blue to red as the burn time progresses from start to finish.
Apparently the Canon 580EX and 430EX can tell the camera the color temperature of the shot, presumably derived from the burn time.
I don’t follow Nikon equipment closely enough to answer this: I wonder if they have done something similar to Canon?
I did not know that Gordon but I’m not surprised. I’ll be diving into the manual shortly and learning all I can about this baby.
