PC Magazine gives us their Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 Review and had some reservations about this model from Panasonic. Worth a read if you are considering the LZ5 digital camera.

“As it does with most Panasonic cameras, the MEGA O.I.S. works well, and it enabled me to capture lots of blur-free, well-exposed images. Unfortunately, the camera’s overall performance was disappointing, especially the significant shutter lag, which can be annoying when trying to capture action shots—sports, or children playing.

If you’re looking for a digital camera with 6X optical zoom, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better camera at a cheaper price. Nonetheless, the Lumix DMC-LZ5’s performance issues keep it out of the running for an Editors’ Choice award. “

The Panasonic LZ5, as with all Panasonic cameras, offers the company’s MEGA O.I.S optical image stabilisation system for shake-free photos. The DMC LZ5 improves on the previous DMC LZ2 and LZ1 models with a larger LCD screen, High Angle mode that brightens the LCD when held overhead, faster 1-point auto-focus system and a new High Sensitivity mode with a fastest ISO speed of ISO 1600.
