Steve’s Digicams have done a review of the P712 and had this to report-
"Building on the success of last year’s P850, Kodak has added another model to their "Performance" series of EasyShare cameras with the EasyShare P712 Zoom. It is almost identical to its predecessor, retaining the same SLR-style body, 12x optical zoom, Image Stabilization and 640×480 30fps movie mode, but the resolution has been increased to 7.1-megapixels as well as the addition of the Panorama scene mode. This versatile model has an exposure mode for everyone. Beginners can enjoy point-n-snap simplicity with its full Auto mode as well as 17 scene specific modes that are pre-programmed for various snapping situations. Program AE mode is great for novices who like a bit more control with settings for ISO, White balance, Metering, Focus mode, etc. While more experienced users can take advantage of the advanced control allowed with its Aperture priority, Shutter-speed priority and full Manual modes."
Kodak Easyshare P712
According to Kodak, its 7.1-megapixel EasyShare P712 was designed for "second- and third-time digital camera buyers." Appropriately, the camera includes a higher level of control than many of Kodak’s cameras, such as manual white balance, full manual exposure, and a trio of custom picture modes. It also sports a hotshoe, which can be outfitted with an accessory flash and can record images as raw, TIFF, or JPEG files. Anyone stepping up from a simple point-and-snap camera will likely be impressed with the level of control offered, as well as the 12X optical, 36mm-to-432mm, f/2.8-to-f/3.7 zoom lens, but a slightly sluggish start-up time and noisy images at higher ISOs will irk more advanced snapers.
