Want a full-featured digital camera with many pro features? Then the Nikon D40 may be for you. We have another Nikon D40 review to bring you, today’s is from Photoxels. The Nikon D40 is Nikon’s smallest and most affordable digital SLR. It’s launch smack at the beginning of this year’s shopping season must have been carefully calculated. Along with the camera and lens announcements, Nikon also announced a new Speedlight, the SB-400, that is obviously aimed as a partner to the D40, neither of which have dedication to Nikon’s creative lighting system.
"Though there are other DSLRs with similar features as the Nikon D40, the latter seems to be just the right size, weight — and price — for many P&S photographers thinking of upgrading to a better digital camera. The ease-of-use and excellent image quality of the D40 will make the Nikon D40 the first attractive DSLR for many families who are tired of not being able to take good low-light shots of their babies and children indoors.
…
The Nikon D40 DSLR is the smallest Nikon DSLR to date but don’t take that to mean there has been compromises in image quality. With 6.1 megapixel resolution on an APS-sized (23.7 x 15.6mm) CCD image sensor, Nikon has shown the wisdom of leaving behind the futile megapixel race and concentrate on image quality instead."
