Imagine a digital-camera with a 10x zoom lens that’s less than 2 inches thin. The camera body incorporates a swivel design for the lens, enabling users to take photos from dynamic angles, such as holding the camera overhead to capture action over the crowd or composing from down low to get a different perspective. The large, bright 2.5-inch LCD with a 170-degree viewing angle allows the user to accurately frame shots, while the VR (Vibration Reduction) function overcomes camera shake to take sharper, more stable pictures in a range of shooting situations. The camera offers increased light sensitivity up to an impressive ISO 800, so users can get great-looking results in lower light without the need for an extended exposure and select much faster shutter speeds
when taking pictures of fast-moving subjects. Check current eBay prices of the S10 here.
The Nikon Coolpix S10 has been reviewed by the folks at Megapixel.net who tell us the lens on this one produces no pincushion distortion at the telephoto end of the zoom, however, a slight chromatic aberration can sometimes become visible when the image is seen at 100%.
"Overall the Coolpix S10 has a good ergonomic design. Its external controls are few, but responsive and their placement makes them easily and generally accurately manipulated. Similarly, the Multi-Selector is precise and quick to use. The LCD monitor has a high resolution, and the fact that it is rotated in relation to the lens section means that it can be positioned to avoid light falling too directly on it, which would make it hard to see, while the lens section can be maintained in position to keep the shot framed as desired."
