The Nikon Coolpix S10 has been reviewed by the folks at DigitalCameraReview.com who didn’t show a lot of love for this model. Complaints about its dim LCD screen, fiddly little zoom control, and high sticker price. Be sure to shop around and compare the competition.
"The Nikon Coolpix S10 is a bit over-priced; it’s menu driven/non-intuitive and there are a couple of irritating design glitches, but it is not a bad camera. If it had been introduced two years ago it would have absolutely skunked the competition - today it may not be the best choice for smart digicam buyers. Potential buyrs might want to wait and check out the soon to be released Canon Powershot TX1. The TX1 may look quite different from the S10, but it is in fact a very comparable camera."
The Nikon Coolpix S10’s camera body incorporates a swivel design for the lens, enabling users to take photos from dynamic angles, such as holding the camera overhead to capture action over the crowd or composing from down low to get a different perspective. The large, bright 2.5-inch LCD with a 170-degree viewing angle allows the user to accurately frame shots, while the VR (Vibration Reduction) function overcomes camera shake to take sharper, more stable pictures in a range of shooting situations. The camera offers increased light sensitivity up to an impressive ISO 800, so users can get great-looking results in lower light without the need for an extended exposure and select much faster shutter speeds
when taking pictures of fast-moving subjects.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThe swivel makes it! Canon may have slightly better software and there are smaller models in the same performance/price range but the swivel provides a POV that is both very unique and very useful. Added to very good picture quality (unlikemany of the super small models) and you have a great little camera.
