Digital Camera Batteries

Digital Camera Batteries

The market for digital camera accessories is so wide and enticing. For instance, you own a digital camera, and enter a camera store; you would definitely find something interesting enough to buy. From lenses, tripods, filters, memory cards with larger storage space, to elegant camera bags, and so many products out there. However, before submerging yourself in these goodies, you should first consider one of the most important accessories—the battery for your digital camera.

Like any other camera accessory, digital camera batteries come in various types. To determine which type suits your device, you can read through your device’s manual. Certain digital cameras take AA batteries, which have some advantages in terms of availability and low costs. If your camera can use the said type of battery, you can choose between nickel-metal hydride and nickel-cadmium, which are rechargeable, while lithium and alkaline are non-rechargeable.

On the other hand, there are digital cameras that can only take proprietary batteries. Meaning, these devices require a specific type of battery, which is oftentimes available only in the company that also manufactured the digital camera. Normally, this type of digital camera battery is made of lithium-polymer or lithium-ion, and it comes with his or her own chargers. If you own a camera that takes this type of battery, it is a good idea to purchase a spare battery, a spare one to use when the current battery being used failed.
