Flash memory
Owning a digital camera requires you to have general awareness of how the said device functions. Specifically in terms of storing the images you have taken. You should recognize and understand the main camera accessory, which takes care of storing the images of precious moments captured by your camera.
This particular camera accessory is known as the flash memory. It is a type of non-volatile computer memory, which means that it does not need power to maintain data that has been stored in it. A flash memory is inserted to a specific compartment in the camera, and when you take pictures, the images taken and processed are automatically stored into it. After you have captured all the images you want, you can then remove the flash memory from the camera, insert it to a memory card reader, attached to your computer, and copy the pictures to your PC’s hard drive. A flash memory offers much convenience due to its small size but it can contain large amount of pictures. With regard to its storage capacity, a flash memory capacity may range from 128 megabytes to a few gigabytes. The higher the storage capacity, the more pictures you can store in the flash memory.
Some popular brands that produce these flash memory cards for digital cameras include Smart Media, X-D Picture Card, Secure Digital and Compact Flash. You should be aware also that your digital camera can only use a particular type of flash memory and you cannot use just any of the previously mentioned memory types.
